Spring is almost here! But, in all the excitement leading up to it, we here at KaBloom cannot ignore one of our favorite holidays! Did you know that February 28th is National Floral Design Day? Look around you, and you’ll see some form of floral design, whether in a garden or at a florist. So, we got to thinking about the best way to celebrate the holiday, and of course, the answer is to make a flower arrangement! With Spring coming, we figured this might be a good time to start planning ahead and welcoming one of our favorite seasons, and wanted to share some fun tips on how you can make your own arrangement to celebrate the holiday!
Figuring out how to make a Spring arrangement can be difficult because there’s so many options. The most important thing to decide is what colors you want to use, especially since some flowers come in different colors. Typically, the brighter and paler colors are associated with Spring, so think about pinks, yellows, purples, and lighter blues and greens. Of course, these are just a few of the typical colors, but don’t let that stop you from adding something different in. After all, you’re celebrating floral design, so you are the master of your creativity.
With so many flowers out there, which ones are the best for a Spring arrangement? The short answer is all of them! But, let’s take a look at some of the most common and popular flowers of the season. One flower you can never go wrong with is the Rose. Its elegance is unmatched by any other flowers, and it can be used to convey so many different emotions and feelings, especially love. Using a red Rose may be a striking choice, but there are many other colors that could work just as well. Try adding in pink or lavender Roses, for their sweetness will be a soft touch. Another flower you should consider is the Peony. Its full bloom symbolizes prosperity and good fortune, which may be the message you want to evoke this season. One of the best things about the Peony is that they come in so many different colors, and all of them have a lighter tint to them, making them perfect for the season. Try experimenting with different color combinations, whether with other flowers in the arrangement or just other Peonies! Some great shades of Peonies during the Spring include pink, white, and yellow. Peonies are also incredibly versatile because they work as a focal point of an arrangement and as an accent.
If Spring had an official flower, it would have to be the Tulip. Since they are some of the first flowers to bloom in the Spring, the flower often can symbolically mean “rebirth”. It seems like no Spring arrangement would be complete without this flower, and seems only fitting to include it as you welcome the season back. Tulips come in a variety of vibrant colors, adding that perfect splash of color to your arrangement, as well as that true Spring vibe to anything it is included in. Perhaps you’re looking for something a little more unique. Why not consider the Calla Lily? These exotic flowers are known for their unique shape, and are most commonly associated with purity. While the most common color it comes in is white, the Calla Lily comes in a variety of others, including yellow, pink, and purple. If you’re looking for something exciting or a little different, this will be the flower for you to include in your arrangement.
